Nicté-Ha — Strategic Heart of the Corridor
Nicté-Ha is the vital core of the conservation system.
It safeguards coastal wetlands, mangroves, and floodplain forests that sustain the ecological integrity of the entire region. As a neighboring property to Xim Báalam, together they form a symbiotic ecological system that strengthens the corridors of the jaguar (Panthera onca), the Mexican tamandua (Tamandua mexicana), the black howler monkey (Alouatta pigra), and many other plant and animal species. Its role as a hydrological and biological connector makes it a strategic site for addressing climate change and ensuring the resilience of the Laguna de Términos.
Main Objectives
-Regenerate and maintain wetlands and mangroves that function as natural coastal protection infrastructure.
-Consolidate shared biological corridors with Xim Báalam for jaguars, Mexican tamanduas, black howler monkeys, and other key species.
-Generate high-value biodiversity credits, essential for attracting national and international investment.
-Implement participatory monitoring schemes that ensure permanence and local governance.

VALUE
Nicté-Ha is much more than a neighboring property: it is the coastal lung and the water heart that balances the entire biological corridor. Its capacity to connect flows of water, carbon, and biodiversity makes it the indispensable ecological anchor for the Xim Báalam–Nicté-Ha system to maintain its integrity and long-term projection.
